We mine our own Triassic shale, fire it ourselves, and offer more than 100 styles, finishes, and sizes. Family owned, American made, built to outlast the buildings around it.
Lee Brick & Tile began after Hugh Perry and ten local businessmen from Lee County decided to invest in brickmaking. In the late 1950s, Hugh bought out the investing partners, making it a solely owned family company.
Frank Perry, and later his son Don, have since guided the business through changes in brick manufacturing few in the ceramic industry could have anticipated — without ever losing the family ownership it started with.
Today Don’s sons, Adam Perry and Chris Perry, represent the fourth generation of the Perry family and help lead the company alongside him.
From a pair of small kilns in 1951 to a modern multi-plant operation, Lee Brick has steadily expanded capacity while keeping quality and family ownership at the center of the business.
A look back at the plant, the people, and the ground it was built on.

Our quality starts before the kiln — with the finest Triassic shale in the country, mined from our own pit in Sanford. Our methods of mining, processing, and firing assure the highest quality in every finished brick.
Made from one of the most abundant natural materials on earth, brick offers an unsurpassed life cycle, minimal waste, and exceptional energy efficiency. We can also blend in reclaimed material to help projects meet LEED requirements.
Brick is more than a look — it’s a high-performance building system that pays off in comfort, safety, and value.
Only brick construction uses the same kind of sound control used in recording studios — a one-inch column of air behind the brick plus the mass of the masonry itself. Outside noise drops dramatically inside.
Brick is slow to lose or absorb heat, so heating and cooling systems work less. Brick homes rank among the most energy-efficient in the National Home Energy Rating System (HERS), with typical energy savings of 2–8%.
According to most building codes, brick is listed as non-combustible. It will not burn from exterior fire sources, which also supports lower homeowners insurance premiums year after year.
On average nationally, homes made of brick sell for about 6% more than similar homes built with other materials — often covering the additional cost of choosing brick in the first place.
Brick is a multi-layer system roughly five inches thick. Behind the outer brick is an air space and weep holes that let moisture escape or evaporate — one of the best moisture-control assemblies in residential construction.
Brick does not need painting, and it stands up to weather for generations. The result is lower upkeep and a finish that keeps looking solid over decades.
Properly detailed brick veneer systems are well-suited to high-wind and severe weather regions, offering durable protection when openings and attachments are correctly designed.
Made from abundant clay and shale, brick has a long service life, minimal waste, strong thermal performance, and recycling options — a durable choice for sustainable building.
